How to get Indian Medical Visa from Bangladesh

Step 1 - Collect Visa Invitation Letter

The first step is to collect your Visa Invitation Letter from the Indian Hospital.

The treating Indian Hospital requires the below information and documents from you to provide you with a Visa Invitation Letter

Information required by the Hospital

1. Patient Details - Name & Passport Number
2. Attender Details - Name & Passport Number
Note: Maximum of 2 Attenders allowed per patient.
3. Nearest Indian High Commission Mission in Bangladesh based on where you currently live.
Note: The Visa Invitation Letter will be addressed to your nearest High Commission of India.
4. Tentative Arrival Date in Chennai
Note: The Visa Invitation Letter will be mention your tentative arrival date in Chennai
5. Preference (if any) of the treating doctor from the Indian Hospital.
Note: if there is a preference of doctor, please notify so your preferred doctor can be requested to review your medical reports. Else, the hospital will assign an appropriate senior consultant to review your medical reports and provide you with a visa invitation letter

1. Scanned copy of the Passports of the Patient/Attenders.
Note: The passports should have a minimum of six months as on the date of submission of application for the Indian Medical Visa.

Step 2 - Collect Necessary Documents

The next step is to collect the necessary documents to create an online application for your Indian Medical Visa.

Documents to Collect

1. Passport, in original, with a minimum validity of six months as on the date of submission of application for visa. The passport should have at least two (2) blank pages.
2. Old passports must be submitted with the application form.
3. One recent passport-size color photograph (2x2) depicting a full face with white background.
4. Identification Document:
  • A copy of National ID Card; OR
  • Birth Certificate
5. Proof Of Residence:
  • A copy of the Utility (Gas or Electricity) bill (recent bill, and not less than 6 months old);
    OR
  • A copy of Landline telephone bill (recent bill, not less than 6 months old)
6. Proof of Financial Soundness:
  • Endorsement of Foreign currency equivalent to USD $150/- per applicant. (Endorsement should not be older than three months at the time of submission;
    OR
  • Updated summary Bank statement showing sufficient funds;
    OR
  • Copy of international credit card or Travel Card (Example: SBI Travel Card).
7. Medical Reports: Necessary medical documents in support of the ailments/disease fromlocal doctor along with medical reports.
8. Valid appointment letter from Indian hospital mentioning/highlighting name & passport details of applicant & attendant, date of appointment, doctor etc.
9. For Official passports holders also, it is advisable to take medical visa (MV) as well as medical attendant (MX-visa).
10. Minor applicants have to be compulsorily accompanied by parent/guardian as medical attendant.
11. Necessary clearance from Law Ministry & Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in case of **Organ Transplantation cases (viz., Kidney, Liver, Bone marrow, etc.)

Step 3 - Create and Submit Online Application

Once you have all the necessary documents ready, the third step is to create and submit the application online.

The official portal for applying is indianvisa-bangladesh.nic.in.

Step 3.1 - Click on 'Online Visa Application' button on the top left.

Step 3.2 - Complete the Visa details

Ensure the following
  • Indian Mission is the same as the Visa Invitation Letter
  • Expected Date of Arrival is same as Visa Invitation Letter
  • Visa Type is Medical Visa
  • Purpose: Select Patient or Attendant as appropriate

Step 3.6 - Upload Passport Photo:

Photo Specifications:
  • Format: JPEG
  • Size - Minimum 10KB, Maximum 1MB
  • Minimum dimensions are 350pixels (width) x 350 pixels (height)
  • Recent front facing photograph with white background to be uploaded by applicant.
  • Do NOT crop the Passport Image to use it as your recent photograph.
  • Upload clear front facing photograph with preferable white/light coloured background.
  • The application is liable to be rejected if the uploaded photograph are not clear and as per specification.

Step 3.7 - Complete the Address at Place of Stay

Ensure that:
  • Indian Mission is the same as the Visa Invitation Letter
  • Expected Date of Arrival is same as Visa Invitation Letter
  • Visa Type is Medical Visa
  • Purpose: Select Patient or Attendant as appropriate

Step 3.8 Complete Confirmation

Important: Note down the Application ID which starts with BGD, and print the form.

Step 4 - Print Out

Print out all your documents and make an itemised list of the documents attached. This will help you keep track of what you are submitting in the next step.

The final step is to submit your documents to IVAC (Indian Visa Application Centre).

Visit IVAC with all documents and printed Application form with the BGD Application ID.
