Dr. Vikash Agarwal has joined the Apollo Hospitals enterprises group after a detailed interview with Dr. P.C. Reddy, chairman of the prestigious Apollo Group which changed the medical scenario in the Indian subcontinent. He was appointed as a full-time consultant in the department of neurology at the Apollo Specialty Hospital which also deals with neurosurgery and cancer care and treatment. He was working as a full-time independent consultant with daily OPD in neurology, inpatient care, and emergency room neurology calls which include acute stroke and epilepsy treatments. He was also in-charge of the neurophysiology laboratory in the hospital and report EEG-Nerve conduction studies and short-term video EEG monitoring for classification on a daily basis. He takes active participation in the academic programs for the DNB (Diploma National Board) postgraduates in neurosurgery at our hospital, discussing bedside clinical neurology and localization on a weekly basis.
He has worked as assistant professor in neurology at Sri Ramachandra Medical Center, Chennai which is a renowned medical college and a 1000 bedded tertiary care center located in the Tamil Nadu state in South India. He was responsible for handling the overall working of the unit especially the neuro ICU including the stroke ICU including ward rounds and overseeing the daily management of all the admitted patients in the unit. Emergencies and inter-departmental referrals were handled on an on-call rotational basis. Outpatient consults and neurophysiology testings were done on an alternate day basis. In the neurophysiology lab, he reported electro-encephalograms, nerve conduction studies and performed electromyography testing. He also had teaching responsibilities in the institute for internal medicine and neurology residents. He was also actively involved in the daily academic sessions where the residents were taught various aspects of neurological diseases and their management.
