Dr. Refai Showkathali is one of the most experienced Cardiologists in India, currently practising at Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Refai has diverse experience from across the globe including specialized training and fellowships for the United Kingdom. He is an expert in performing CHIP-PCI( cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support devices), left main PCI, Bifurcation PCI, Rotablation, CTO PCI. Over his more than two-decade-long medical career he has specialized in coronary imaging and physiology (OCT /IVUS & FFR) as well as other invasive procedures including Permanent pacemaker, AICD (Defibrillator) implantation, implantable loop recorder, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion, right and left heart catheterisation, Right ventricular (RV) biopsy and transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Dr. Showkathali is also well versed with devices such as atrial & ventricular septal device closure (ASD/VSD), PFO and Left atrial appendage closure (LAA).
He is a Professor at the Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation. Dr. Refai has an immense contribution to the field of Cardiology as well as the academic advancement of medicine. He has added multiple fellowships to his hat He is also a regular examiner for the MRCP PACES exam conducted by the Royal College of Physicians, London. And is a reviewer of manuscripts for various international cardiology journals for publication.
