Dr. Ajit Pai is a Consultant Surgical Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon with special expertise in cancers of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, pancreas, colon, and rectum), gynaecologic cancers (ovarian, uterine and cervical cancers) and cancers of the esophagus. He also provides comprehensive care for cancers of the breast and head and neck cancers.
His formative surgical oncology training was at the Tata Memorial Hospitalin Mumbai, India, with subsequent specialty training in advanced gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancer surgery in Japan and Heidelberg, Germany. He completed a formal Fellowship in advanced gastrointestinal, laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques for gastrointestinal cancers at the University of Illinois, at Chicago, USA.
Dr. Pai’s special areas of interest and expertise are in the use of laparoscopic and robotic surgery for the stomach, colorectal, esophageal, and uterine cancers, extensive resections for large and recurrent cancers affecting multiple organs in the abdomen[multivisceral resections] and conservation surgery for breast cancer. The use of chemotherapy during surgery for ovarian, stomach, and colon and appendicular cancers in the form of HIPEC and PIPAC is also a core area of expertise.
